KLM Privacy Statement - Children's Addendum China

This Children’s Addendum explains how we collect, use, share, and otherwise process the Personal Information of children under the age of 14 (“Children” or “Child”) in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Law (“PIPL”), and other applicable laws and regulations in China. This Children's Addendum supplements the KLM Privacy Statement including the China Addendum (the “Privacy Statement”). If any provision in this Children’s Addendum is inconsistent with a provision in the Privacy Statement, this Children's Addendum shall prevail to the extent of the inconsistency regarding the processing of your Personal Information. Unless otherwise specified, the definitions of the terms in this Children's Addendum have the same meaning as in the Privacy Statement As the parent or other legal guardian of your Child (hereinafter collectively referred to as "Guardian", “you”, or “your”), please assist us in jointly protecting the Personal Information and privacy security of Children, and please carefully read the Children’s Addendum before you or your Child use the products and/or services provided by us, especially the parts marked in bold.

When you fully understand and consent to this Children’s Addendum, you may start to use or allow your Child to use our products and services. Once you start to use or allow your Child to use our products and/or services, you agree that we collect, store, use, provide and protect your Child's Personal Information in accordance with this Children’s Addendum.

1. Types of Personal Information we collect and use

When you or your Child use our products and/or services, we may collect and use the following categories of Personal Information:

(A) Name, nationality, date of birth and other identifying information

When you make a reservation or book a flight for your Child, we collect your Child’s name, gender, nationality, date of birth, and other information appearing on your Child’s passport or National Identity Card.

(B) Passport or National Identity Card

As part of access and security controls at the airport and during online check-in (if available), we verify the information appearing on your Child’s passport or National Identity Card to confirm their identity and ensure it matches the details used to purchase the ticket.

(C) Destination contact details

We may collect your Child's contact information (including their phone number and destination contact address) for the delivery of lost or delayed baggage.

(D) Unaccompanied Minor service

When you use our Unaccompanied Minor service, we collect your Child’s name, age and gender. You may also share with us your Child’s dietary preferences and allergies.

2. Purposes for which we use the Personal Information

2.1. Main purposes for which we use the Personal Information

(A) To provide reservation and ticket purchase services for your Child.

(B) To provide passenger and baggage transportation services for your Child.

(C) To provide the Unaccompanied Minor service for your Child.

2.2. Legal basis

We may collect and use your Child’s Personal Information only if we have a legal basis for doing so. We collect and use Children’s Personal Information:

(A) Where necessary for the conclusion and performance of a contract.

(B) Where necessary to fulfil our statutory obligations and duties.

(C) Where necessary to respond to public health events or to protect your personal and property safety under emergency situations.

(D) Based on your separate consent.

(E) In case of other circumstances provided by applicable laws and regulations.

3. Retention

We do not keep your Child’s Personal Information for any longer than is necessary. How long the Personal Information is retained depends on the purposes for which the Personal Information is processed and the applicable laws and regulations. Upon expiry of the retention period, we will delete or anonymise the Personal Information in accordance with the requirements of applicable laws and regulations. Where the deletion cannot be done due to technical obstacles, we will store the Personal Information securely and avoid further processing of the Personal Information until we are able to delete.

4. How to exercise Children’s rights

You may contact us if you have any questions about this Children’s Addendum or how we use Personal Information, or if you wish to exercise on behalf of your Child any of the rights provided under the PIPL (including the right to access and copy, the right of correction, the right of erasure, and the right to data portability). For our contact information, please refer to section 8.4 of the Privacy Statement.

In order to verify your guardianship, we may collect identification information relating to you and your Child (including identity documents, “Hukou”), contact information (including mobile phone number, email address), address and other information necessary before responding to your request.

5. How this Children’s Addendum is updated

This Children’s Addendum took effect on the date the Chinese Addendum took effect.

We reserve the right to amend this Children’s Addendum from time to time. All changes are published on our website. We invite you to read it regularly, especially when you book new flights with us. If you choose to continue using our website or app or other online channels after the updated Children’s Addendum takes effect, you will be deemed to have agreed to the updated Children’s Addendum.
